Kateryna Zavertailo is a translator, traveler, and dreamer. In 2005, she began studying the Chinese language and culture at the Institute of Philology of Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University. In 2007, she went to Tianjin for a language training program. And in 2009, Kateryna received a scholarship from the Confucius Institute that covered graduate school in Guangzhou majoring in teaching Chinese to foreigners. In 2013, she was awarded China’s government scholarship to study applied linguistics at the post-graduate school of Wuhan University. Kateryna wrote two articles for the Confucius Institute’s magazine about an eventful life of a Ukrainian student in the Celestial Empire. She studied in Tianjin, Guangzhou, and Wuhan; lived in Shanghai; worked in Beijing; and traveled to Hangzhou, Suzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Lanzhou, Inner Mongolia, Qingdao, Chongqing, and other nooks of mysterious China, searching for inspiration and adventures.
