Svitlana Kaiuk

Author of «Echoes of a Lost Muslim Civilization: The Provocative Discourse of Ismail Gasprinsky»

A historian Svitlana Kaiuk holds PhD in History. She specializes in the study of Southern Ukraine and the Zaporozhian Cossacks. In recent years, her research has focused on the Turkic and Muslim components of Ukrainian history. She moderates the academic online seminar «History of the Crimea and the Black Sea Region». She teaches original courses such as «The Muslim World of Ukraine», «Jews and Muslims in Ukrainian History», and «The Frontier Dimension of Ukrainian History». She is a member of international academic societies and research associations PIEES (Platform of International Eastern European Studies) and GTOT (Gesellschaft für Turkologie, Osmanistik und Türkeiforschung).
