Translator

Sinologist, translator, and musician

Mariana studied philology and sinology at Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University, Fudan University, and Renmin University of China. She also studied Peking Opera in Shanghai and Beijing. In 2008-2019, Mariana lived in Beijing where she taught at China Women’s University and worked in the music and theater industry as a music director, songwriter and singer, arranger, and sound artist. She also translated for theater and cinema. Since 2015, she has been translating contemporary Chinese literature. Now, she is a postgraduate student at Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University and a research fellow at the Taiwan Central Academy (Academia Sinica).

For Safran publishing house, she translated the following books from Chinese: «The Monkey King», «The Lotus Lantern», «The Jinwei’s Legend», «The Lucky Purse», «The Princess’s Messenger», and «Big River, Big Sea—Untold Stories of 1949».
