Yuliia Osadcha Ferreira

PhD in philology, research fellow at the T.H. Shevchenko Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2001-2020), director of the Far East Research Center of Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University (from 2010), lecturer in the history of Japanese literature and the theory and practice of literary translation at Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University (2007-2016), and researcher of the Japanese literature and culture. Yulia lives and works in western Germany. Since autumn 2019, she has been pursuing a postgraduate degree at the Bonn International Graduate School—Oriental and Asian Studies. She translated «The Essence of the Novel» (1885) by Tsubouchi Shōyō, the first treatise on writing in modern Japan, as well as a number of essays on the history and theory of the Japanese literature of the 19th and 20th centuries. A translator of classical and contemporary Japanese fiction. In collaboration with Prof. Ivan Bondarenko, she compiled «The Japanese Literature. A Course of Lectures» (2014-2016), a history of Japanese writing in three volumes, the first of its kind in the post-Soviet countries.

For Safran publishing house, she translated «The Quilt. Novel and Short Prose» from Japanese.
